Assistant Coach Terry Depew
Terry has been on the pool deck way too many years to count. She has now found herself coaching children of former swimmers. Originally from Peoria and a former member of PAWW, she graduated from University of Illinois where she was a 4 yr letter winner and NCAA division I qualifier with degrees in clothing textile and retail with minors in business and fashion design.
Upon graduation, she returned to Peoria to start her coaching career with PAWW. Her professional career had her moving every year but she still managed to coach across the state. She landed in the Naperville area where she coached Racquet Club, NAPY, Mavs, ONT and her last coaching job was with Wheaton Swim Club. At Wheaton Swim club she was lead coach of the orange, blue and bronze groups and also helped with the National team. Terry believes in focusing on technique at an early age as bad habits are hard to break. She also tries to be creative in her coaching style to keep the sport fun.
She is married to Rich Depew and has two sons, Chris and Jeff, who are now swimmers at University of Redlands in Southern California. Being a parent of swimmers has helped her be a better coach. When she is not coaching and enjoying an empty nest, she is the owner of TeeDee Designs, Ltd. a specialty dressmaking company. Her hobbies include gardening and cheering Illini basketball on. Coach Terry coaches the fundamental, developmental and intermediate groups along with being Oswego Girls’ Junior Varsity coach.
